Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September. 21, 1983) is an acclaimed American actress. Particularly, she appeared as Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV show as well as Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. Her parents had divorced and she relocated with her mother into Los Angeles. However, in 2001, despite difficulties with money she managed get her first significant role in the online video series Rachel's Room playing the principal character. Following her win of a Young Artist Award in 2002 due to her role as Murder on the streets of Greenwich of 15 year old Martha Moxley as a murder victim, she went on to win. Grace played Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. The show featured her as the principal character for two seasons and also won the Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace decided to leave the series to pursue a professional film work. She had starred alongside Tom Welling opposite in The Fog back in 2005. She also starred in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and, opposite the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) are her re-casts of these roles. Grace reprised Shannon's role on Lost for two more episodes. This included the finale of the series. In 2013, she was in the sixth season of Californication. She plays Faith an actress who is a muse for the stars and catches the attention from Hank Moody (David Duchovny). She is part of the Gyllenhaal family and is the sister to Jake Gyllenhaal. As a teenager she appeared in small roles in films made by her father. She also was co-starring with her sister in Donnie Darko which is a famous cult film. Her next roles were in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, both 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performances as the lead in Secretary (2002 the erotic romance drama) as well as Sherrybaby (606) Both of which garnered their Golden Globe Award nods. In 2006, she had numerous commercially successful films, such as World Trade Center. However, it was her role in the role of Rachel Dawes that brought her more attention with The Dark Knight (2008). After her successful performance as an unmarried mother in Crazy Heart (2009), she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. In the following years she was a part of comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011 and Won't Back Down 2012. In addition to her role as an agent of the Secret Service agent, she also appeared as a character in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). The most recent roles were as the main character in The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). Gyllenhaal composed and directed her debut film The Lost Daughter in 2021. The drama about psychological issues won the Best Screenplay Award from the Venice International Film Festival. It was also nominated to the Academy Award of Best Adapted Screenplay.
